Current Communication Landscape Discussed at FGV Comunicação Event

2nd Edition of Aberje Trends Afterwards Sparks Debate on Communication Trends and Artificial Intelligence

FGV Comunicação hosted another edition of Aberje Trends Afterwards at its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. The event is organized by the Brazilian Association for Corporate Communication (Aberje).

Marco Ruediger, Director of the School of Communication, Media and Information at FGV, was a panelist in AI, Education, and Politics, alongside Helio Muniz, Brand, Communication, and Sponsorship Director at Enel Brasil; Leandro Provedel, Brand and Corporate Communication Manager at ENGIE Brasil; and Otávio Ventura, Offer Lead at Cortex, who moderated the discussion.

Ruediger spoke about building a cultural repertoire to develop critical thinking when interacting with artificial intelligence, so individuals also know when they can trust AI-generated information.

"There is great demand for you to remain relevant, and you will only remain relevant if you broaden your repertoire. This expansion is not trivial, and this technology competes with you—it helps you, but at the same time, in this specific case, it’s also competing," said the director.

Leonardo Müller, Chief Economist at Aberje, presented the report “Communication Paradox”, a study addressing how corporate communication structures struggle to meet organizational demands due to the small number of professionals handling an extensive workload. The study offers hypotheses and opportunities to support its critical analysis.

Müller explained that this paradox may persist in an adaptive yet potentially unstable way due to the climate emergency, demographic shifts, and the return of economic nationalism—all of which drive changes in communication. However, the consequences include overwork and burnout, fragmentation of institutional knowledge, difficulty measuring generated value, and reputational fragility in critical contexts.

In Rio, the event continued the series of debates already held in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, with “New World Disorder” as the main theme of the morning session. Participants were introduced to corporate communication trends and explored how communicators are learning to navigate an era of global tensions fueled by conflict, climate chaos, and artificial intelligence.

The partnership between FGV Comunicação and Aberje is long-standing and extends to Professional Master’s and MBA programs, combining the institutions’ expertise in corporate communication. Ruediger also serves as a member of Aberje’s Advisory Council.
